1 in 4 care service users on a personal budget…

One in four recipients of care services is now using a personal budget, according to Jeff Jerome, the national director for social care transformation.
Delegates at the National Children’s and Adults Services Conference in Manchester last week were told that of the one million recipients of ongoing care packages, 250,000 now have a personal budget, and half of these are taking their budget as a direct payment. Councils are expected to have 30% of eligible service users on personal budgets by April 2011, according to government targets.
