Liquid Social Worker provides 103-year old care user with a new lease of life…

6th December 2010

Social worker Lorraine Smith, a locum worker for Liquid Personnel, has helped elderly service user Frank Whipple to improve his quality of life, by giving him and his daughter access to a personal budget.

Frank is 103, and is also a carer for his 66-year-old disabled daughter Peggy, and he has been very impressed with the work Lorraine has done for him.   His insiprational story, covered in Community Care this week, explains the personalised care package which has now been made available to them, incorporating days out, customised domicilliary care, and even a summer holiday to Eastbourne.

Lorraine has been widely praised in her local authority, and she often provides advice and support to colleagues on the subject of personal budgets.

Our Managing Director, Jonathan Coxon, commented:

“We are incredibly proud of Lorraine; she is a passionate social worker who has been a great ambassador for Liquid Personnel.

She has supported her colleagues admirably as they make the transition to working with personalised budgets, and I am certain she will continue to make a real difference to the lives of other service users.”

Lorraine gave us an exclusive interview recently, explaining the work that she had done with Frank, and attitudes towards personalisation in adult social work.  You can view the interview below:
