GSCC Registration Renewals for social workers…

21st February 2011

Are you a social worker registered with the General Social Care Council? Is your registration due for renewal?  All social workers are required to renew their registration with the GSCC every three years, and they are currently experiencing a very high volume of applications.

As well as having many thousands of renewals to deal with, the staff are also coming to terms with the fact that the GSCC is to be scrapped as of April 2012.  The team are said to be working incredibly hard; 9,000 renewal applications were recieved in January, and thousands more are expected this month. They have even had to hire temporary staff to cope with the workload.

If your registration is due for renewal, your forms must reach the GSCC before your current registration expires, otherwise you could be taken off the register.  Despite the high demand, applications are still being dealt with inside the normal time of three weeks.  However it is expected that this time will increase during February and March.  More information can be found on the GSCC’s website.

Important: In order to apply for any locum social work jobs or permanent social work vacancies, you must be registered with the GSCC!
