Two social work colleges to form single organisation…
9th May 2011
It is expected that the two colleges of social work will soon form a single organisation. The College of Social Work and BASW are set to put aside their differences and agree on how to proceed together.
Hilton Dawson, the BASW chief executive told Community Care he was “confident that we will soon have a jointly agreed memorandum of understanding in place for moving ahead together”.
BASW has recently renamed itself as ‘BASW – the College of Social Work’ after voicing disapproval over the way the original College of Social Work, run by the Social Work Reform Board, was being developed. Following an initial public dispute, which we disussed on the Guardian’s Social Care pages, the two colleges have been involved in a series of talks to resolve their issues.
A formal announcement is expected soon…
