Libby Blake - Haringey's new director of children's services
Haringey Council has appointed Libby Blake as its new children’s services director. The role had previously been held by Sharon Shoesmith, who was sacked in December 2008, following the death of Baby P.
Blake has previous experience in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, where she was acting executive director for family and children’s services.
She also has plenty of other key experience, having spent 13 years in Lambeth in a wide range of specialist child protection jobs and social work management roles.
She will directly replace Peter Lewis, who is nearing the end of a fixed term three year contract, due to finish in December this year.
Blake is due to start in November, when she will face the daunting task of continuing to repair the reputation of Haringey children’s services.
