Social Work Survey – Supervision, Training and Development…


Key Findings:

  • 62% of social workers feel the level of supervision they receive is ‘about right’. However just over a third (36%) feel they do not receive enough supervision.
  • When asked how well they felt their manager helped them deal with the emotional aspects of their role, responses from social workers were mixed. 13% said ‘Very Well’ and 19% said ‘Quite Well’, but 22% said ‘Not Too Well’ and 14% said ‘Not Well At All’. The remaining 32% said ‘OK’.
  • 52% of respondents felt they did not have sufficient time and opportunities to take on their required training and develop as professionals.
  • 55% said the time available to them for training and professional development had decreased in the last 12 months.
