Key Findings:
- 62% of social workers feel the level of supervision they receive is ‘about right’. However just over a third (36%) feel they do not receive enough supervision.
- When asked how well they felt their manager helped them deal with the emotional aspects of their role, responses from social workers were mixed. 13% said ‘Very Well’ and 19% said ‘Quite Well’, but 22% said ‘Not Too Well’ and 14% said ‘Not Well At All’. The remaining 32% said ‘OK’.
- 52% of respondents felt they did not have sufficient time and opportunities to take on their required training and develop as professionals.
- 55% said the time available to them for training and professional development had decreased in the last 12 months.

However it is clear that increasing workloads have left many practitioners struggling to find time for their post-registration training and learning (PRTL).”
