Career Progression - Mark's story

Mark is associate director for Liquid Healthcare contracts which covers our AHP and Nursing divisions. He joined Liquid in May 2012 looking for a new challenge, and progressed through the ranks from trainee consultant:

Background: Mark was an experienced sales person working in outsourcing. He had an exceptional record in new business development and customer retention.

Liquid Academy: Mark entered the Liquid Academy where he learned the ropes of recruitment, and started applying his sales skills to a new challenge. With our focus on practical learning, he worked alongside experienced consultants from day one. Mark made his first placement after just 2 weeks at Liquid, while still a trainee.

Progression: Mark quickly hit the targets required to progress to senior consultant and then principal consultant level. He was deservedly promoted to team leader in 2013, and then regional manager in 2014. Appointed as an associate director in 2016, Mark now leads a team of exceptional recruiters and new trainees in our Healthcare division, as well as taking on responsibility for the Talent Attraction and Learning & Development departments.

Mark’s tips for success:

Building relationships is the most important skill to be successful here. That’s the key reason I’ve retained my candidates and built my numbers consistently.
You also have to be a team player – you will rely on your team’s support and they will rely on you.
