Career Progression - Mike's story

Mike is Associate Director for London and the South East, one of Liquid’s largest recruitment divisions. He joined Liquid in November 2010 as a trainee and has progressed through the ranks.

Background: Mike was a computer science graduate, working in the publishing sector. He had one year of experience and was looking for a new challenge, progression opportunities, and success.  He joined our London & South East team as a Trainee Consultant.

Liquid Academy: Mike progressed through the Liquid Academy, learning about the sectors we work in and practising key recruitment skills.  Mike was mentored by some of Liquid’s most experienced consultants at the time, and progressed quickly.

Progression: A consistently high performer, Mike progressed to Senior Consultant level, and within another 6 months, was promoted to his first managerial position.  He went on to become Regional Manager for the London & South East division, one of our largest divisions, consisting of 15 recruiters, and generating over £20m annual turnover.  Most recently in 2016, Mike was promoted to Associate Director.

Mike’s tips for success:

Never settle for second best; come into the office each day with a relentless determination to succeed.
Retaining customers is essential in recruitment, so providing excellent service to everyone you deal with is essential.
