Children's Senior Residential Support Worker - Ashton-Under-Lyne - Up to £14 per hour

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Children's Residential Support Worker to join a fantastic team in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Greater Manchester.

The successful candidate will have residential experience of children and young people and must have leadership qualities that enable them to manage both the environment and children/young people.

Duties as a Children's Senior Residential Support Worker:

* To take responsibility in ensuring the provision of a high quality of therapeutic care to children and young people
* To ensure appropriate standards of practice are maintained that are consistent with principles, standards and philosophy stated in Care 4 Every Child (C4EC) policies and compliant with current legislation and regulation as it relates to childcare practices
* To exercise control over young people individually, and within a group by the development and use of positive relationships, whilst avoiding the use of confrontation and physical force
* To key-work young people and facilitate good relationships with other agencies and a young person's family and carers
* To take a positive interest in the young people's educational progress, to monitor their homework and link with school in a parental capacity, in accordance with their care plan
* To help and foster the young person's interest in and understanding of, the world they live in
* To maintain all records and administration
* To identify the religious, ethnic, gender and cultural needs of a young person and to contribute to meeting them by exploring facilities in the area and assisting the young person in making contact
* To contribute to the implementation, monitoring and reporting on individual care plans for young people who are looked after

Essential requirements of this Children's Senior Residential Support Worker role:

* To be working towards or hold a minimum; Diploma Level 3/5 in working with children and young people
* Ideally to have residential experience of children and young people
* Leadership qualities that enable you to manage both the environment and young people
* The ability to undertake risk assessments in response to the needs of both the young people and the home environment
* Professional commitment to development and training
* The legal right to work in the UK
