Social Worker - Children with Disabilities ( CWD ) - Wiltshire - £28ph - £30p/h 

Our client in Wiltshire is looking for a social worker to join their Children with Disabilities ( CWD ) Team. The ideal Social Worker will be registered with the HCPC and have some experience working with Children with Disabilities.

The successful social worker will also have previous post qualified experience of social work within front line child protection as well. The post is within a team that offers a lot of support and is a great opportunity for the right individual to gain more skills.

As a Children with Disabilities ( CWD ) Social Worker you will be responsible for;  
  • Carrying out reviews and assessments of the needs of children with disabilities and their families 
  • Devising cost appropriate support plans then implement them
  • Working to ensure the protection of vulnerable children 
  • Promoting service users choices, control and independence
  • Supporting service users to live safely and independently in their own homes
  • Undertaking duty and assessment tasks on a rota basis
  • Assisting service users with direct payment
  • Arranging appropriate care and placing service users in nursing or residential homes if required
  • Reviewing residential, nursing home  or day centre placements
  • Working effectively with other professionals 
  • Ensuring assessments are accurate and service users are able to self-direct the assessment process and make informed decisions
  • Using local knowledge and professional experience to make decisions that uphold autonomy whilst recognizing the social work role for safe intervention
  • Playing a role within a range of multi-agency teams to ensure co-ordinated, appropriate assessments and support that remain person-centred and enable. 
As a Children with Disabilities ( CWD ) Social Worker you should have: 
  • Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities
  • Good understanding of Safeguarding and how it applies
  • Experience of working with people within supported housing/living situations 
  • Negotiating with providers and families 
  • Putting in place personalised budgets 
  • Identifying alternative preventative services 
  • Working up individual support plans that identify support/care hours needed to meet specific outcomes
  • HCPC registration
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Full UK license
