Senior Social Worker - Safeguarding and Care Planning Team - Merton - £40,086 - £42,876pa

We are excited to announce that there is a vacancy for a Senior Social Worker in the Safeguarding and Care Planning Team in Merton! This is an exciting opportunity to work in an exciting, motivated and enthusiastic team. Salaries range from £40,086 - £42,876pa

About the role:

  • Manage a Children & Families caseload involving the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of appropriate action, to ensure that appropriate resources are deployed to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and their families
  • Work in partnership with other agencies (health, education, police, voluntary sector etc.) to ensure individuals and families receive a coordinated response and appropriate services in proportion to their assessed need

Develop and maintain relationships with other operational Social Work Teams and colleagues in the council and external partners including:

  • Education Department
  • Housing Department
  • Education Welfare
  • Health
  • Police
  • Council led and voluntary sector agencies with a family support role

A Senior Social Worker in Merton will be expected:

  • To model the Social Work role and set standards and expectations for others
  • Take responsibility for supervising less experienced staff and social work students or managing non-Social Work staff (e.g. Family Support Workers)
  • Act as or be working towards being a Practice Educator (Stage 2) to social work students (in accordance with Practice Educators Professional Standards, PEPS)
  • To assess and manage the work of Social Work Students and NQSWs on their ASYE
  • Act as a mentor to lower level Social Workers.

Requirements:

  • Have post-qualified experience 
  • Be eligible to work in the U.K.
  • HCPC registered and have a DBS
