Social Worker - Independent Reviewing Officer / CP Chair - Swindon  - £38-£40ph

We are currently looking for a children and families social worker to join team in Swindon.

Willingness and flexibility to undertake a range of roles across children's social work as part of the job rotation system. Flexible working hour's considerable travel involved to out of area placements; this sometimes means working outside of normal office hours. A full driver's licence and use of a car is essential.

Ability to make non routine and complex judgement. Ability to work unsupervised/with minimal direction. Ability to effectively manage workloads. Problem solving skills. Excellent communication skills. Ability to produce well researched and well written reports. Liaison and negotiating skills. Ability to think creatively in a solution focussed way. Ability to manage self and others in highly stressful and pressurised situations. Act as service lead on own discipline. Proficiency using ICT as recording and management information tool. 

Substantial knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and families. Extensive knowledge of the legislative framework relevant to children and young people

As an IRO, you will have experience of:

  • Previously working in an extensive post qualifying role
  • Chairing complex multi-agency procedures 
  • Chairing LAC reviews or Child Protection conferences 
  • Safeguarding for Children & Young People 
  • Liaising with other professionals 
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation 

You will need to be:           

  • HCPC registered 
  • Eligible to work in the UK  
  • A full UK licence holder
