We have a new permanent opportunity available in Nottinghamshire for an experienced Senior Social Worker looking to join a Mental Health Team.

Within this role candidates will be responsible for assuring a high quality social care service to patients and carers whilst promoting a balance between the needs and rights of patients and the protection of the public. The Senior Social Worker role involves:  

  • Demonstrating some freedom of action in managing the service and interpreting national and organisational policies
  • Instilling, promoting and maintaining working relationships with all levels of management, employees and patients
  • Instilling, promoting and maintaining a health and safety environment with all levels of Management, Employees and Service Users within the service as directed by legislation and policies
  • Working in partnership with patients and carers to assess and identify their needs and achieve service provision which is outcome focused and enhances their quality of life, independence and social integration
  • Working in partnership with all internal and external professionals involved in assessment and service provision, through effective communication and consultation, to ensure a co-ordinated response to patients and carers
  • Contributing to the training needs of others by undertaking student supervision. In addition, engaging in personal training opportunities and contributing positively to the organisation within the staff supervision and personal development process
  • Being an integral part of the senior management team within the Unit
  • Overseeing the role and function of the social work department
  • Holding a clinical case load of 20 patients
  • Sharing 24 hour on-call responsibilities with the senior management team
  • Assisting in home assessments and reporting back to the Multi-Disciplinary Team concerns relating to patients or carers prior to home leave taking place

To be successful as a Mental Health Senior Social Worker, you’ll need:

  • Ability to develop and implement training for clinicians within the organisation of social care issues
  • To promote a social care value base
  • Strategic management within a mental health service
  • To contribute to high level meetings
  • Active engagement with equality and diversity


  • HCPC registered 
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • A full UK license holder
