Residential Care Manager - South London - £37,851 to £44,043 per annum

I am recruiting for a permanent role of Residential Care Manager in South London. The purpose of this role is to provide a short breaks service that achieves positive outcomes for service users and carers.

The post holder will be responsible for managing all aspects of running the Respite Unit. The post holder will be the `registered manager` for the home as specified in the Children`s Homes Regulations 2001 and required to fulfill the obligations set out in the National Minimum Standards for Children`s Homes and the Care Standards Act 2000.

As a manager you will ensure the Unit maintains an acceptable Ofsted rating of 'Good' or better and meets CQC requirements at all times through continuous improvement and quality assurance.

You will be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of the overall service, and the implementation and monitoring of the service plan. To be innovative and proactive in how the Unit can improve and to work within the authority's policies and procedures.

As a Residential Care Manager you will have:

  • Knowledge of child development and understanding of the needs of children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behavior. 
  • Strong knowledge of the National Minimum Standards for residential children`s homes. 
  • Strong knowledge of the National Minimum Standards for residential children`s homes. 
  • Knowledge of performance management framework for both service and employee. 
  • Working knowledge of all Health and Safety Requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Safeguarding and protection requirements.

Skills Neede as a Residential Care Manager:

  • Ability to take responsibility for the professional learning and development of others through supervision, mentoring, assessing, research, teaching, leadership and management.
  • Experience of establishing effective working relationships with other professionals, including representatives from partner agencies.
  • Demonstrate sound decision making, risk management, and problem solving.

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work qualification
  • HCPC registration
  • Qualification in management at least at level 4 or prepared to work toward achieving this
  • Extensive work experience working with Children and Young People within a residential environment within the last 5 years including at senior level managing workers.
  • Significant experience of managing staff, setting priorities, formal supervision and undertaking performance management
  • First aid training, basic food hygiene, health and safety training and fire safety training, Medication training, Child protection Training etc
  • Experience of managing budgets and budget control
  • Experience of leading formal meetings and preparing formal reports
  • Proven satisfactory `Ofsted and or CQC ` inspection history
