Assistant Team Manager (2 vacancies) - Adoption - Hounslow - £35 to £38 per hour

My client in Hounslow has 2 vacancies for Assistant Team Managers on their Adoption team. The main purpose of the role is to prepare, assess support adopters, find families and match children and adopters, assess Special Guardians, Connected Persons & Assessment of Support  in accordance with legislative requirements and departmental policies. Within this role you will work to maintain high standards of professional practice, working at all times in the best interests of children and adults.

The ideal Adoption Social Worker will have:

  • Significant, substantial and measureable post qualifying experience including work within a statutory social work setting with children and families and adoption.
  • Experience of the Adoption and Children Act 2002, Children Act 1989, Adoption Agency Regulations.
  • Knowledge/experience of statutory adoption work and issues pertinent to the matching of children and young people with prospective adopters
  • A sound appreciation and understanding of the placement needs of black and ethnic minority children and young people who are looked after by the local authority.
  • Demonstrable detailed knowledge of relevant adoption legislation and associated guidance and regulations with clear understanding and experience of how this relates to looked after children and adopters.  
  • Thorough knowledge of child development and current social work theories and the capacity to use research in practice to inform desired outcomes.
  • A clear perspective about the professional Social Work role and ability to present this competently in a variety of settings both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrable competency in IT programmes and ability to use relevant data bases.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

As an Adoption Assistant Team Manager your KPIs will be:

  • Timely assessments.
  • Timely statutory visits.
  • Timely reports for professional meetings.
  • Up to date case records and files in accordance with the Adoption & Children Act 2002
  • Meet all court timescales.
  • Case allocations
Duties as an Adoption Assistant Team Manager:

  • To assess prospective adopters and connected persons and present cases at the Adoption, Fostering & Permanence Panel for a recommendation.
  • To offer ongoing support and consultation with adopters and Special Guardians in accordance with departmental objectives.
  • To fully participate in managing the duty system. 
  • To undertake assessments of prospective adopters.
  • To facilitate information sessions and adoption preparation training for prospective adopters.
  • To work collaboratively with professionals within the Children’s Services Division, multi disciplinary services and inter agency placements to ensure the needs of adopters, Connected Persons, Special Guardians and children are met.
  • To provide clear verbal and written reports to professional and meetings as relevant.
  •  To undertake family finding and present matches to Adoption & Permanence Panels as required.
  •  To work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure smooth transition when children are moved into their adoptive placement.
  •  To maintain accurate and full records of the service users in line with the department’s policies and procedures.
  •  To ensure all Adoption work is carried out in accordance with the Adoption and Children Act 2002, Children Act 1989, Care Planning & Review, Adoption & Fostering Agency Regulations and National Minimum Standards for Fostering & Adoption as well as current legislation.
  •  Any other broadly analogous duties which may be allocated from time to time.

Essential Requirements:

  • Dip/SW or equivalent
  •  HCPC registration.
  • (Adoption Agency Regulation 3, Adoption & Children Act 2002)
  •  Post qualifying experience in childcare social work (Adoption Agency Regulation 3, Adoption & Children Act 2002)
  • Direct experience of adoption work
  • (Adoption Agency Regulation 3, Adoption & Children Act 2002)
