Haringey Council are in need of an experienced social worker to fill a current vacancy in their Children's Safeguarding Service. You will be filling the role of the Senior Practitioner within the team. The service plays a vital role in continuing the child’s journey when cases are transferred from the Assessment Service and where longer-term involvement is needed.

This is a busy and supportive service working with children and young people subject to child protection and children in need plans including Public Law Outline pre-proceedings work, as well as initiating care proceedings. It is essential that applicants for this role are fully qualified, recently experienced and can demonstrate good knowledge and practice of social work in statutory children's services.

Your duties in this Safeguarding role will include:

  • Placing children and young people, and their welfare, at the heart of your social work practice
  • Managing complex cases
  • Planning intervention and support in a timely manner
  • Making sure that children and young people’s voices are heard
  • Liaising effectively and efficiently with both internal and external partners to ensure that children and young people are safe
  • Providing high quality, evidence based assessments
  • Supporting your Team Manager in developing the team, e.g., supporting and mentoring ASYE and less experienced colleagues
  • Helping to implement and drive a high performance culture

Essential requirements:

  • HCPC registration
  • A social work qualification with statutory senior experience in Children's Services
