Social Worker – Parenting Assessments - Charitable Organisation - St Helen's - £30,758 to £33,437 per annum (dependent on experience)

My client is a charitable organisation that is based in St Helen's. They have an exciting new permanent opportunity that is offering a high salary. You will be responsible for examining and observing the nature of the interactions between the child, family, and environmental factors. You will be key in helping make sound recommendations around future planning. As the successful candidate you will also be supporting the Registered Manager and staff team in the co-ordination of support programmes for families.

Expectations of the ideal candidate:

  • Prior experience of working within child protection
  • Significant experience within children’s services and a good understanding of the court arena
  • Comprehensive experience of writing parenting assessments
  • The ability to be confident, professional and pragmatic when delivering / presenting evidence to court
  • You will ideally have: experience of conducting assessments using PAMS (Parent Assessment Manual Software) and have completed the PAMS training
Some duties of the role include:

  • Carrying out court directed assessments within controlled time frames
  • Undertaking ongoing risk assessments of families, acting decisively to protect children
  • Co-ordinating and undertaking both community and residential assessments
  • Building appropriate professional working relationships, working in partnership with families advising and supporting parents in the care of their child(ren)
  • Co-ordinating the work of other staff involved in parental assessments: ensuring that the Centre maintains a consistently high level of observation, recording, interaction, communication and assessment of families interaction, need, parental motivation and daily events within the Centre
  • Liaising with other professionals and providing timely and detailed records as required
  • Attending meetings and participating in and producing reports
  • attending court and giving evidence as required
Essential Requirements:
  • HCPC registration
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Social work qualification
