We currently have an exciting opportunity to join Waltham Forest as a placement officer in a senior practitioner capacity. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with knowledge, understanding and experience of identifying the right placement for children in care and young care leavers.

You will need to have good organisational skills and be able to assess and understand the needs of the children and the young people in order to identify suitable placements. Waltham Forest Council’s children and family service wishes to ensure that all children are in suitable placements with experienced foster families, residential children’s homes or semi-independent providers. Care leavers are also a priority in the placements service and the Council always aims to provide the highest quality of accommodation for them.

Some of your duties as a Social Work Placement Officer will include:

  • Achieving the best outcomes for children and young people in the care of the Borough
  • Following best practice guidelines
  • Acting as a role model to others on the team
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary capacity
  • Successfully agreeing high quality placements for children and young people

Essential requirements:

  • To be qualified as a social worker
  • HCPC registration
  • Experience of securing placements for looked after children and care leavers
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
