Our client are looking for dedicated and skilled social workers to join their Family and Community Services on a permanent basis. The team works with children and families in need and undertakes assessments and child protection inquiries if appropriate. The Referral & Assessment team sits within this service, alongside the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and Triage team, working as a single team with partners from police, health and education.

Your responsibilities in a Family and Community role include:

  • Managing an increasingly complex social work caseload including safeguarding
  • Demonstrating expertise in one or more areas of social work practice
  • Using range of frameworks for assessment
  • Providing support for trainees and other employees, including acting as a 'buddy' for inductees
  • Taking responsibility for obtaining regular, effective supervision from the appropriate social worker
  • Demonstrating comprehensive understanding and use of knowledge related to area of practice, including critical awareness of current issues and new evidence-based practice research
  • Demonstrating awareness and compliance with required Standards including the Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework (Social Work level).
  • Clearly reporting and recording judgements, decisions and analysis using the appropriate system (Protocol / AIS)

A Senior Social Worker will take on additional responsibilities such as:

  • More complex cases
  • Professional supervision of other Social Workers (3 to 6)
  • Court proceeding reports and acting as expert testimony in Care or Private Order proceedings
  • Chairing professional meetings with inter-agency partners and clients

You are required to have:

  • HCPC registration
  • Eligibility to work in the UK 
  • A social work qualification
  • Post-qualified experience in children's services
