Social Worker - Adoption Team - Blackpool - £35 per hour

A Social Worker required to join a busy Adoption Team within Blackpool. Fostering/Adoption experience is  preferred but not essential. The roles will include managing the recruitment, preparation and assessment of families for children both within and outside of the organisation including supporting adopters at adoption panel and then through to matching and post placement support.  You will also ensure family finding is started at the earliest opportunity and support with the collation of life story work Following the conclusion of care proceedings (where the plan is for adoption) you will be responsible for family finding for the child. To prepare the child for placement, supervise/support the placement up to the making of an Adoption Order and undertake statutory duties. 

The role also includes undertaking assessments as part of the post adoption support offer to children and families . You will need to identify appropriate support services either via the Adoption Support fund or from other organisations to ensure our adopted children reach their potential. The post involves facilitating the post adoption mailbox and liaising with relevant parties and offering support as necessary. 

You will need 3 years post qualifying experience ideally in adoption or relevant children and families social work

The successful Adoption Social Worker will have experience of:

  • Understanding of the Adoption regulations (with preference for experience in this area although not essential) 
  • Assessment of the needs of children
  • Providing support to families in need
  • Form F Assessments
  • Conducting initial visits
  • Taking cases to panel
  • Liaising with other professionals 
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Holding complex cases
  • Viability assessments
Essential Requirements:
  • HCPC registration
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Post-qualified experience
