Social Worker / Senior Social Worker - Fostering Team - Permanent - Harrow - £33,777 - £41,292p/a

Harrow Council’s people services directorate is looking for a Social Worker or Senior Social Worker to join their Fostering Services Team.

In this role, you will be undertaking the recruitment and assessments of fostering applicants and participate in a comprehensive support service to foster carers, including undertaking the supervising social worker role and annual reviews.

Senior social workers will take more responsibility with a higher workload and some supervision duties of fellow colleagues in the team.

As a Fostering Social Worker, you will need to:

  • Complete form F assessments
  • Conduct LAC reviews
  • Advocate on behalf of the service user
  • Match and place children
  • Attend meetings and liaise with other agencies and professionals 
  • Attend case conferences
  • Have experience of working with children in care
  • Promote and model effective working arrangements with schools, children’s centres and other settings
Requirements to work in this role:

  • Social Work qualification
  • HCPC registration
  • Detailed knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and other legislation
  • Knowledge of the Fostering National Minimum Standards 2011
  • Experience of working with children and families where Substitute Family care had been provided
