EHCP / SEND Report Writer - Leeds - 30p/h

Leeds Council are looking for someone who has previous or similar experience in report writing in regards to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and/or Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP).

You will need to work in a collaborative way with parents/carers, children and young people to ensure that their views and wishes are integral to the assessment, planning and review process and ensure EHC Plans are co-produced with their input. Your main purpose will be to collate all papers and advice relating to the statutory assessment of children and young people identified with Special Educational Needs and liaise with other professionals and workers in the development and review of ECH Plans for children and young people.

Your duties as a Report Writer will include:

  • Being responsible for the effective administration under the 2014 Children and Families Act and in accordance with the Code of Practice on Special Educational Needs
  • Assisting in the EHC co-ordinator of the provision and delivery of draft plans, in relation to the statutory assessment of children and young people with special educational needs
  • Administering the procedure for statutory assessment of children and young people with special educational needs including placement, monitoring and review
  • Complying with timescales for the assessment process in accordance with national and local targets 
  • Drafting EHC plans according to statutory procedures
  • Legally and effectively administering consent led information sharing to maximise multi-agency working which is in accordance with the Data Protection Act
  • Participating in continuing professional development and regular team meetings
  • Undertaking any other duties commensurate with the post assigned by the EHC Manager

You must have:

  • A social work or similar qualification
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Similar, previous experience
