We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Social Worker to take on a 1 year fixed term position within a Mental Health Team in Southend-on-Sea.

Southend Council is a unitary authority based in the heart of the town and offers traditional seaside living which makes it a great place to live and work. This diverse and busy town has great public parks and leisure activities, competitive house pricing and excellent travel links, accessible via 2 train lines from Liverpool St and Fenchurch St.

The Council are looking to recruit a qualified social worker for their busy Mental Health Team as part of the Growth Bid for the Adult Mental Health Social Work Service.

A Mental Health Social Worker will have the following duties:

  • Co-ordinating the care in complex cases under CPA
  • Developing co-produced care plans with service users
  • Assessing risk and managing it
  • Safeguarding vulnerable adults
  • Using holistic assessments of mental health and social care needs
  • Conducting Care Act assessments
  • Working with carers and wider support networks
  • Partnership working with other statutory and voluntary organisations
  • Liaising with inpatient units
  • Keeping accurate records and writing high quality reports

You will need:

  • A social work qualification and HCPC registration
  • Post-qualified mental health experience
  • Familiarity with health and safety and good practice and be able to implement these in all aspects of working practice
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
