Details:

  • At Dudley MBC we’re recruiting for a third Team Manager to join our dynamic Fostering Service which is committed to delivering high quality support and supervision to our Foster Carers and the children that they look after.
  • The service is based at Corbyn Road in Dudley, which has the advantage of ample free parking.
  • We have two Fostering Support Teams who take a mixture of Connected and Mainstream Foster Carers, something we’ve instituted to reinforce our stance that we treat all Foster Carers in the same way. However, the post we’re advertising for does take the lead on developing any specialist services that are needed for Connected Foster Carers, and for ensuring the right level of support and annual review for Special Guardianship Carers, of which we have a number due to the success of our No Detriment Policy.
  • In this post you will report directly to the Service Manager for Fostering. You will also be part of a supportive management team within a restorative local authority that is committed to the training and development of its social work practitioners.
  • You will be responsible for: 4 FTE Social Workers, 1 FTE Senior Family Support Worker, 3 FTE Family Support Workers (managed by the Senior Family Support Worker) who also provide support for some No Recourse to Public Funds families after the initial work has been completed by another team, 1 (18.5 hours) finance officer (for the annual reviews of SGOs, plus adoption payments).
  • As a Team Manager you will provide regular welfare and case supervision to the practitioners within your team. You will also have access to a wide range of training and development opportunities both in house and via our Centre for Professional Practice.

As a Social Worker you are required to:

  • Hold a Social Work England registration
  • Be eligible to work in the UK
  • Hold a full UK licence
  • Post-qualified experience
  • Degree level or equivalent in Social Work
  • As manager of this team you must be a qualified social worker with previous management experience or management ability. Previous experience of working with foster carers is desirable.
