Social Work Assistants – Nottinghamshire – Assessment Team/CIN/CP

Liquid Personnel is currently looking for experienced Social Work Assistants to join our client in Nottinghamshire. As a successful Social Work Assistant, you will be working directly with children, becoming part of their Assessment Team, covering Children in Need and Child Protection.
 
You will provide specialist support to social workers in the provision of child
protection across Nottinghamshire, by providing a consistent contact point for
families, carers, and professionals.

Your duties as a Social Work Assistant in Nottinghamshire:

  • You will be a consistent point of contact for families and carers of children
    and young people – this will include identifying client needs and giving
    practical assistance and advice to support them with any immediate
    crisis
  • Under direction from the social worker, you will liaise with colleagues,
    partner agencies and with other professionals in order to commission services; to follow appropriate referral routes and keep all parties informed of key dates; to provide a consistent contact point for all parties; to provide advocacy and support for families; and to check all invoices or payments made to outside agencies
  • As specified in the CIN or CP plans, gathering wishes and feelings, understanding why social care are involved, working with the child on specific issues such as domestic violence, parental substance misuse, online grooming, or family breakdown
  • Undertaking second visit as part of CAFA or prior to transfer under CIN
  • Working with individual children in a large sibling group
  • Supporting parents to de-clutter the home and drawing up a plan with them to make a start on addressing home conditions
  • Undertaking a second visit as part of the CAFA
  • You will provide practical and emotional support to ensure that important appointments are attended that are key to progressing the CIN/CP plan

Essential requirements of this Key Worker role include:

  • Relevant qualification in Health and Social Care
  • Previous experience in a Social Work Assistant role, working directly with children
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload to meet deadlines whilst working independently and effectively
  • The legal right to work in the UK
