Social Worker – Salford – Duty and Assessment (DAT) – £39 per hour

Duty and Assessment Children’s Service offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on children, young people, and families in the Greater Manchester area. As a social worker in Salford, you’ll contribute to safeguarding children, focusing on their best interests and working collaboratively with families. It’s a chance to be part of a supportive community and contribute to meaningful change

Benefits of the role:

  • Excellent rate of pay
  • Regular training and development
  • Supportive team
  • Great feedback from Social Workers currently working there

As Social Worker you will be responsible for:

  • Initial Assessments: When a referral comes in, the DAT team conducts initial assessments to determine the level of risk and need for intervention. They evaluate the child’s safety and well-being.
  • Decision-Making: Based on the assessment, the team decides whether the child requires further support, intervention, or statutory services. They consider factors like parental capacity, family dynamics, and any risks present.
  • Referrals and Signposting: If the child’s needs can be met through non-statutory services, the DAT team refers them to appropriate community resources. They also signpost families to relevant support networks.
  • Child Protection: When there are safeguarding concerns, the DAT team initiates child protection procedures. This involves working closely with other agencies, professionals, and families to ensure the child’s safety.
  • Collaboration: The team collaborates with schools, health professionals, police, and other agencies. They attend strategy meetings, case conferences, and court hearings as needed.
