Teaching Assistant – SEN – Edenbridge, Kent

Liquid Personnel is currently looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our client based in Edenbridge, Kent.
As a successful Teaching Assistant, you will work with class teachers and the SENCo to raise the learning and attainment of pupils. You will promote pupils independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion
 
You will also give support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning, and experience a sense of achievement.

What will you be doing as a Teaching Assistant in Edenbridge, Kent?

  • You will demonstrate an informed and efficient approach to teaching and learning by adopting relevant strategies to support the work of the teacher and SENCo and increase achievement of all pupils
  • You will promote, support, and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extra curricula activities
  • You will use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the schools policy and procedures
  • You will communicate effectively with other staff members and pupils, and with parents and carers under the direction of the class teacher/SENCo
  • You will communicate their knowledge and understanding of pupils to other school staff and education, health, and social care professionals, so that informed decision making can take place on intervention and provision
  • You will contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices, and procedures, so as to support the school’s values and vision
  • You will organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment
  • You will observe pupil performance and report to class teacher and SENCo, and record where necessary

Essential requirements of this Teaching Assistant role:

  • GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade C in English and maths
  • Previous experience in a Teaching Assistant role
  • Experience working with children / young people with additional needs (e.g. SEND, behavioural, mental health)
  • Experience supporting and working with parents of young people with additional needs
  • Experience planning and delivering targeted interventions
  • The legal right to work in the UK
