Justine Greening Made New Education Secretary, Replacing Nicky Morgan
The Secretary of State for International Development Justine Greening will replace Nicky Morgan as Education Secretary in Prime Minister Theresa May's new-look Cabinet.
Morgan had previously held the role in out-going PM David Cameron's cabinet for two years, leading the children's social care reform agenda her boss had championed throughout his time in office.
She had previously replaced Michael Gove in July 2014 and continued her predecessor's efforts to turn more schools into academies and make wide-reaching changes to children's social services.
A key initiative of her tenure was putting forward plans to introduce accreditation in children's social services - and introduce a new regulator to oversee it - by 2020, with the Children and Social Work Bill containing these reforms currently going through Parliament.
She also presided over the introduction of more fast-track social work training schemes such as Think Ahead, and championed social workers enjoying freedoms similar to school academies.
Whether Greening continues Morgan's agenda or takes a different tack remains to be seen.
