The Children’s Social Worker (Proficient) is responsible for providing comprehensive social work services to children and families, with a focus on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in need. This role requires a commitment to child-centered practice, professional leadership, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safeguarding Children: Ensure the safety and welfare of children in need, promoting their health, development, and sense of permanence.
• Permanency and Progress: Secure stable, long-term living arrangements for children who cannot live at home and support their progress according to care plans.
• Child-Centered Approach: Place children’s needs and perspectives at the forefront of all professional activities, from assessment to intervention.
• Collaborative Leadership: Lead and unite professionals across disciplines to address the comprehensive needs of children, particularly those under protection or in care.
• Parent and Caregiver Engagement: Work with parents, caregivers, and alternative care providers to enhance protective factors and prepare children for adulthood.

Key Duties:

• Information Management:
• Handle information about children and families in line with policies, protocols, and the Data Protection Act.
• Case Management:
• Perform assessments, planning, reviews, and other case management tasks to a high standard.
• Adhere to legal, regulatory, and professional standards related to child welfare.
• Professional Judgement:
• Make sound judgements regarding children’s needs, parenting capacity, and the influence of community or environmental factors on child welfare.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) or equivalent.
• Registration with the relevant professional body.
• Proficient understanding of child welfare laws, regulations, and guidelines.
• Experience in child welfare services, case management, and child advocacy.
