Job Description:

As a Residential Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of our residential facility, ensuring the highest standards of care and support for our residents. Reporting to [insert relevant position, e.g., Director of Operations], you will lead a team of dedicated staff members and collaborate with other professionals to create a nurturing environment for children and young people under our care.

Responsibilities:

• Provide effective line management and support to Children’s Home Managers, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
• Lead and inspire a team of support staff, promoting a culture of excellence, professionalism, and compassion.
• Plan and facilitate regular staff meetings, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and feedback.
• Conduct staff supervision sessions, performance appraisals, and ongoing training to enhance the skills and competencies of team members.
• Oversee the recruitment and selection process for new staff members, ensuring the highest standards of professionalism and suitability for the role.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive Person-Centred Plans for each resident, regularly reviewing and updating them to reflect their evolving needs and aspirations.
• Ensure the safety, health, and well-being of residents by implementing robust health and safety measures, risk assessments, and emergency procedures.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment where residents feel respected, valued, and empowered to participate in decisions affecting their lives.
• Collaborate with other Residential Managers and relevant stakeholders to promote teamwork, sharing of best practices, and continuous improvement.
• Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, responding to safeguarding concerns and ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a residential setting within the last 5 years.
• Level 5 qualification in Social Work or a related field.
• Proven experience in supervising and managing staff, with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices in residential care.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and collaborative approach to work.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff, families, and external agencies.
• Commitment to promoting the well-being, dignity, and rights of children and young people.
• Flexibility to work shifts and weekends as required.
