Senior Social Worker/Advanced Practitioner – Children with Disabilities- Barnet

The Senior Social Worker Advanced Practitioner will provide expert care and support to children with disabilities and their families. This role involves assessing needs, developing care plans, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality social work services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children with disabilities to determine their needs and the support required.
  • Develop, implement, and review individualized care plans in collaboration with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide direct support and intervention to children and families, including crisis management and safeguarding.
  • Act as a mentor and provide supervision to junior social workers and support staff.
  • Lead on complex cases and offer expert advice on matters related to children with disabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals within health, education, and social care to coordinate services effectively.
  • Advocate for the rights of children with disabilities, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, policies, and best practices related to social work and disability services.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work.
  • Registration with a recognized social work regulatory body.
  • Extensive experience working with children with disabilities in a social work capacity.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with disabilities and their families.
  • Excellent assessment, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team, as well as work independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
