Career Progression - Ruth's Story
Kieran is Associate Director for Adults’ Services. He joined Liquid in 2015, earning himself four promotions and an approved training qualification within six years! Kieran topped off 2020 by winning our ‘Top Billing Consultant’ award.
Background: Kieran joined Liquid as a Trainee Consultant after completing his degree in politics at the University of Liverpool and spending one year in sales. After six years, Kieran is now Associate Director for Adults’ Services, responsible for leading our sales teams that cover Adults’ Services across the UK.
Liquid Academy: When he started, Kieran had no previous experience in recruitment or in the social work sector. In 2016, Kieran became an Approved Training Consultant, helping to teach and train the new trainee recruitment consultants through an eight-day training programme covering all aspects of the recruitment process.
Progression: Kieran started his Liquid journey in the Midlands Adults’ Services team and was promoted to Senior Consultant within a year. This was quickly followed by promotions to Principal Consultant in 2017, Team Manager in 2018 and Associate Director in 2021. Kieran has been awarded several honours including ‘Top Billing Consultant’ for 2020 and was manager of ‘Team of the Year’ in 2018 and 2020!
Kieran’s tips for success:
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Recruitment isn’t an exact science and some of the best results I have achieved have been from trying something different, whether this is an innovative way to attract candidates, win new clients or perhaps reviewing a historic process that could be streamlined.
These don’t always work and it’s important to learn from your mistakes, but it’s equally important to be willing to do something that you have not tried before, with a view to continually upskilling yourself. That learning process should hold value in itself!
