Career Progression - Ruth's Story
Ruth joined Liquid as an intern in 2010 while studying for her degree in Business Management. She is a Team Manager in our Midlands Division, leading her own successful team of consultants.
Background: Ruth had a 1-year internship at Liquid while studying for her Business Management degree, during which she learned all about recruitment and experienced work across many areas of the business. After completing her final year and graduating, she came back to Liquid as a trainee consultant.
Liquid Academy: Like the majority of our trainees, Ruth had no previous experience in recruitment, or in the social work sector, and the training provided by the Academy was crucial. She has actively been involved with the Liquid Academy as a consultant, helping to mentor our new recruits, and holding training sessions on specialist recruitment skills.
Progression: Since becoming a Recruitment Consultant, Ruth has been promoted 3 times, to Senior Consultant, Principal Consultant, and most recently Team Manager. She now manages a team of 6 recruitment consultants providing specialist adults’ services social workers to clients in the Midlands and South West of England. Since January 2015, Ruth’s team have won ‘Team of the Month’ 8 times!
Ruth’s tips for success:
Recruitment is hard work and sometimes you’ll be let down. Pick yourself up, move on quickly and tomorrow will be a better day.
Listen and learn from others around you. The consultants at Liquid are experienced, highly skilled and respected in the market. Develop your own style based on what you learn.
